Direct Primary Care

As a doctor I have spent hours behind my laptop on my rolly chair reciting the monologue I’ve been trained to give - “I’m sorry to be the one to tell you this Mr. or Mrs. Jones, but your lab results show you now have (insert disease). There is a medication for this. It will not fix the problem, but should control your symptoms and ideally prolong your life. There are side effects to this medication, but large scale medical studies have shown that the risk of allowing this disease to progress are more harmful than the risk of the medication itself. Follow up with me every 3-6 months. Once the disease progress we will add the next medication on my list of approved drugs for your condition. It’s time for me to move on to my next patient. If you have any questions please call my medical assistant. She will relay the information to me and then call you back within 24-48 hours with my response. Oh, and eat better and exercise more.

This system is NOT working. Each person is individual and unique. Your healthcare plan should be tailored to you.

I want to change the way your health is managed. I want to take the time to get to know each patient as an individual. I want to learn about your life, your medical history, and your long-term health goals. I want you to be as healthy as possible for as long as possible. I do not want to just sit back until you’re sick and then file you through a preset treatment protocol.
